Augusta University

Augusta University, home of the Medical College of Georgia, is one of only four public comprehensive research institutions in the state of Georgia. Founded in Augusta, GA, in 1828, the university includes 10 colleges and schools with nearly 10,000 students, 1,773 faculty members, and 5,118 staff members. It houses the nation's 13th-oldest medical school, the state's sole dental college, an aligned and integrated health system, a growing intercollegiate athletics program, the highly respected Hull College of Business, a new School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, the diverse Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and the College of Allied Health Sciences, among other units. The university is a $1 billion-plus enterprise with statewide and national reach. The Medical College of Georgia includes a partnership campus in Athens, GA, and satellite campuses in the Georgia cities of Albany, Rome, and Savannah.

Center for Health and Research Transformation (CHRT)

The CHRT is an independent, 501(c)3 organization housed at the University of Michigan. CHRT’s mission is to transform research and evidence into actionable policy and program approaches to advance health care delivery, the health of the population, and access to care. Staff have experience in provider, payer, nonprofit, and consulting sectors of public health and health care and come from a variety of educational backgrounds, with master’s and doctoral degrees in law, public health, public policy, and social work. Formed in 2007, CHRT is committed to helping policy makers, leaders, and the public-at-large make informed health policy decisions. CHRT’s director, Marianne Udow-Phillips, has had a 25-year career in health and human services leadership, most recently as director of the Michigan Department of Human Services under former governor Jennifer Granholm.

Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC)

MDRC is a 37-year-old statewide nonprofit collaborative of people with disabilities, including people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; individuals without disabilities; and groups committed to building inclusive communities. MDRC’s mission is to cultivate disability pride and strengthen the disability movement by recognizing disability as a natural and beautiful part of human diversity while collaborating to dismantle all forms of oppression. MDRC believes that inclusion of people with disabilities cannot be fully realized without also ending all forms of violence like racism, xenophobia, classism, sexism, ageism, transphobia, heterosexism, and all other forms of oppression. MDRC’s vision is a world where people with disabilities live full lives within the community with equal rights, equity, and opportunities; are valued as essential and vital members of the community; can be their full selves, in all their identities, in all aspects of their lives; and have space for self-discovery, to cultivate community, and to develop pride.
