    Research Overview

    - Regulation of Arousal States and Neural Correlates of Consciousness.- Research in my laboratory focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying the generation of arousal states of sleep and wakefulness (circuit level), as well as the neural regulation of the loss and resumption of consciousness concerning general anesthesia.

    - Sleep and Pain Interactions.- Ongoing studies in my lab aim to understand the brain circuitry by which sleep disruption increases pain and paves the way for chronic pain. Current research also focuses on the efficacy of psychedelic therapy and its mechanistic underpinnings in rodent models of chronic pain.
